I'm sure it is debatable, but our nutritionist warned us about the detox over eight years ago when we first started taking MSM. After seeing the same pattern literally hundreds of times, I believe it to be true. The pattern is (with some exceptions of course) that two days after taking MSM the first time, or increasing it, people feel achy--usually headache, some body aches, sometimes pain at problem areas like the MSM is going right to work on the problem. I have heard all sorts of flu-like symptoms along with some rashes. Normally, the achiness will go away within a few days even if continuing to take the same amount of MSM. Whatever you want to call this pattern, we (and some others) call it detox.
: After tracing a 5-week old headache and body aches to possible increases in MSM to about 6 gm/day (although I had been taking MSM on and off for over a year at levels near or higher than that), I was surprised and somewhat relieved to read several comments on this board about the detox properties of MSM and possible side effects. However, I haven't seen detox properties of MSM talked about anywhere else. Why not? Are the detox properties debatable?
