: We actually advise gradually working up to 30 caps a day, but most people switch to powder before taking that many pills. That's equivalent to almost 6 teaspoon of MSM. You can sustain that forever if you want to, but most people then gradually drop down to 4 to 8 caps a day as a maintenance level.
: : Ok, I put my order in this morning. And for the record, I checked around and you guys have the absolute BEST prices. Even with S&H, you beat my local source! Very happy about that. One more question though, how much more should I take if 8 is a good start? Say it's 12; how long can I sustain that amount? (sorry, I guess that was 2 questions!) Thanks again Kerry.

: : : 6 to 8 of the 1000 mg capsules is equal to 6 to 8 grams which is a good start. You may want to gradually go higher.
: : : Right now we only have the Lignisul brand in capsules. We have an Opti capsule order in process but won't have them available for about a month. Both are fine brands and I have no problems recommending either one--it's still pure MSM either way.
: : : : No, the bottle of MSM I have from the health food store indicates each capsule is 1000 mg. I take 6-8 of those daily. I'm not good at conversions so I'm not sure how that measures out against 6-8 grams. Were you trying to indicate that I am taking too little? too much?
: : : : Anyway, I'm guessing the only capsules you have available is the Lignisul Brand? Does the Opti Brand sell in capsule form? Is there a difference between the 2 brands?
I need to chime in here. I have had melasma for 20 years - especially bad the last 5 years. I have tried numerous topical treatments. Many topicals actually make it worse. I have been taking MSM for 2 weeks and have had phenomenal results. I see it breaking up and fading every day. My skin feels so soft. I am totally thrilled with the results. This just tells me how toxic and full of pollution my body was. I am on another message board with others suffering from this condition and many have had really good if not terrific results. Melasma is an INTERNAL problem - especially DERMAL melasma which is down deep in your skin. Try it. It might work for you too. I'm not mega dosing on this. I just take a 500 mg pill every 4 hours. I will probably have to increase the dose at some time.
But, for right now, it's working and that's all I care about. Melasma is not life threatening but it does affect your self esteem and quality of life. Good Luck.
